Q: Is the Hallmarks program only open to hospitals?
A: No. While the Hallmarks program encourages hospitals to apply, any workplace where three or more Registered Nurses work or volunteer is eligible. This can be a unit within a hospital, a small physician’s office, a prison, public health settings, free clinics, school systems, and more.
Q: If my facility is not approved to proceed to the site visit, are we allowed to re-apply?
A: Yes, a workplace can re-apply during the next application cycle and only pay a $500 re-application fee. You can re-apply at any time, but will be required to pay the application fee after this time.
Q: Is there a maximum number of awards given per cycle?
A: No. The vision of Hallmarks is to blanket the state in Hallmarks recipients. Although some workplaces may not qualify for recognition, if a workplace meets the criteria, they will be awarded. Our motto is recognition, not competition.
Q: How is the application evaluated?
A: Once the application is submitted, it will be sent to a team of three reviewers and upon completion of the review, will be sent to the Credentialing Committee for review. The application will then be returned to the applicant with feedback from the reviewers. If the unit is approved to proceed to the on-site visit, the reviewers’ comments will be sent to the Credentialing Committee for final approval.
Q: How long does Hallmarks recognition last?
A: Hallmarks Recognition lasts for three years. After the three years, a workplace must re-apply to maintain Hallmarks status. The renewal application is an abbreviated version of the original application that asks for updates since the original application.
Q: Is there an application fee?
A: Yes, application fees are based on number of RN FTEs.
Q: How do I pay the application fee?
A: The down payment is due with the intent to apply submission. The remaining payment is due at the time the written application is submitted. Applicants mail a check made payable to the Hallmarks of Healthy Workplaces program
